Backend Engineer (Elixir) - On-site/Hybrid - Stockholm, Sweden

 

We are recruiting on behalf of a healthcare start-up to hire a Backend Engineer to join a small, product-focused team working with Elixir and Phoenix.

​

You’ll work across the backend, with plenty of ownership and the opportunity to influence technical decisions. The role has a strong focus on keeping things simple and building reliable software without unnecessary complexity.

What you’ll be working on:

​

  • Building and improving Ai-powered features using LLM APIs

  • Developing and maintaining Elixir/Phoenix applications

  • Working with PostgreSQL and Oban for background processing

  • Extending LiveView-based internal tools

  • Improving data and questionnaire-driven systems

  • Fixing bugs and supporting occasional customer facing technical issues

  • Contributing to architecture and wider engineering decisions

What we’re looking for

  • Interest in Elixir and Phoenix (not necessarily production but proven knowledge)

  • Good knowledge of PostgreSQL

  • Experience with background jobs and asynchronous processing

  • Comfortable working across backend and some infrastructure

  • An interest in AI/LLMs and willingness to experiment with new tools

  • A pragmatic approach to engineering and a preference for simple, maintainable solutions

  • Comfortable working independently in a small team

  • Experience with LiveView, Oban and LLM APIs would be beneficial.

AI tools are actively encouraged, with the freedom to use whichever tools and workflows help you work effectively.

Candidate

What you’ll be responsible for building:

- Real-time messaging infrastructure at massive scale
- Distributed systems using Elixir and Phoenix Liveview
- Clustering, presence, and fault-tolerant architectures
- Backend-driven reactive UI 

What you’ll own:

Core platform infrastructure end-to-end
Scalability, reliability, and production performance
Real-time system behaviour under heavy load

Requirements

- Significant professional experience building high volume, distributed infrastructure in Elixir
- Knowledge of deep networking fundamentals (UDP/TCP)
- Understanding of multi-threading/multi-processing
- Familiarity with Ai products


Nice to have:
Experience with real-time systems at scale (messaging, presence, streaming)

Senior Python Engineer  - Remote Europe

Candidate
 

What you'll do:

  • Connect leading AI frameworks (LangChain, Crew.AI, AutoGen) to their platform

  • Build high-throughput integrations with AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, and major LLM providers

  • Create the standards for AI agent communication protocols

Requirements:

  • In-production experience building AI/ML products

  • Python or Typescript (ideally 5+ years)

  • Proven ability to build high-performance APIs & micro-services

  • Familiarity with AWS
